Happy Founder's Day

Today we celebrate our Founder’s Day and the World Thinking Day.

On a day like today, back in 1857, Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, known as B-P, was born in Paddington, London. After a successful military career, in 1907, he held the first experimental camp on Brownsea Island in Dorset, UK. This was to be considered the starting point of the Scout Movement. Almost a century after, the Scouting Movement is thriving and growing throughout the world. Now, 40 millions Scouts contribute to Create a Better World everyday.

We want to remind his thoughts and teachings using his famous quotes which contain in brief all the Scouting wisdom:

We must change boys from a ‘what can I get’ to a ‘what can I give’ attitude.

The real way to gain happiness is to give it to others.

We are not a club or a Sunday school class, but a school of the woods.

It is risky to order a boy not to do something; it immediately opens to him the adventure of doing it.

All the Team at World Scout Shops want to share with you the joy of Scouting.

Happy Birthday BP! Happy Founder’s Day!
